Frequently Asked Questions

FITTING

I would like fitting advice. What do I need to measure?

If you’re emailing us for fitting advice, please let us know the following by sending it through to [email protected]

-Your shoe size according to our measurement guide

-The width of the bunion of each of your feet, as measured around the bunion

-A picture of your feet would be helpful too

I’m unsure about what size to order

If you’re not sure about which size to order, then our shoe size guide on our website should be able to help you - click here to view it.

The size guide will tell you your shoe size you need to fit comfortably in our shoes and most people find that our shoes are ‘true to size’ – this means you don’t have to size up your shoes to accommodate your bunions.

Additionally, if you let us know your feet measurements (the width of the widest place on each of your feet, as measured around the bunion) and send us a picture of your feet, we can help you determine whether our shoes will be suitable for your bunions. Please send any queries to [email protected]

Do the shoes come in different width sizes?

All Calla shoes are made in one width only which is between an EE and an EEE in the toe box and a standard D fit everwhere else.

Some styles are more generous than others so if you are unsure about your sizing you should email [email protected] or use our online Chat to understand better what styles would be best for you.

I’m unsure if the shoes will fit my bunions

Will the shoes still fit me even if I have large/small bunions?

All of our shoes (except for the ESME block heel, which is a wide-fit shoe all around) are a standard fit across the back of the shoe and an EE-EEE fit in the toe box. The wider toe-box provides your toes with 'breathing' space and allows them to not be squished, as it normally happens in standard-fitting shoes. The standard fit across the back of the shoe ensures that your foot is securely in place.

We would invite you to have a look at some of our photo reviews too  - you can see that some of our customers have rather large bunions, while some have tiny ones, and the shoes can accommodate all that.

Which shoes are better for wider/larger bunions?

The AVA kitten heel and the ESME block heel are some of our widest offerings and will therefore be able to accommodate larger bunions that the rest of our shoes. The EMMA also runs a little large and is a little wider.

The JASMIN kitten heel is slightly more spacious than some of the other kitten heel sandal styles as it is made out of super soft, high-quality suede/leather and will adjust to 'cuddle' your lumps and bumps perfectly with time.

To be sure of the exact fit, please email us your shoe size and the measurements of your feet (as measured around the bunion on each foot), along with a picture of your feet to [email protected]

Shoes only come in one width which is around EE-EEE fitting in the toe box, and standard width in the back of the shoe.

Will the shoes fit me if I’ve only got a bunion on one foot?

It is actually quite beneficial for your non-bunioned foot to be in a wider toe-box.

Ordering

I can’t see the option to choose a width on the website.

All of our shoes are an EE-EEE width in the front and a standard width in the back, which accommodates most feet. The only exception is our wide fit offering ESME, which is an EEE fit all around. If you have standard feet with small-medium bunions, you can still wear the ESME but we’d advise sizing a whole size down.

If you feel like the EE-EEE fit may not be suitable for you, please email us at [email protected] for advice on finding the best fit for your feet.

Can you take orders over the phone?

We are happy to take orders over the phone, please email us at [email protected] or leave a message on the chat to arrange.

Please include your phone number and availability for the phone call in the message.

Do you have any stores?

We do not currently stock our shoes at any shops, but this is something we are looking into.

We do have free returns/exchanges for UK customers though, so you can feel free to order our shoes and try them on in the comfort of your own home.

Is there a brochure so I can browse the shoes?

I'm afraid we don't have a catalogue as yet. This is because we only have quite a small range and wish to build it up before producing a brochure/catalogue.

We are happy to take orders over the phone for your convenience, please email us at [email protected] or leave us a message on the chat to arrange this.

Delivery

When will my order arrive?

If you're in the UK, the shoes take 2-3 working days with standard delivery, and 1-2 working days with express delivery if the order is placed before noon.

With international express delivery, they will be sent with DHL and you'll receive a tracking number as soon as they've left our warehouse. The express delivery usually takes about three working days, but this will depend on the country. We post orders Monday-Saturday, so for example if you order your shoes on Saturday after 5PM, they will not ship until Monday. International standard delivery depends on the country.

Your order confirmation email should contain a link containing your tracking number and courier and also an estimated date of arrival, so you can always keep check of when your shoes are expected to arrive. If you don’t appear to receive a confirmation email, please check your spam folder as sometimes the email can appear here.

Returns and exchanges

Do I have to pay to return/exchange my shoes?

Exchanges and returns are free to customers in the UK, but customers outside the UK will have to pay for the postage of their shoes when they are returning them.

While we are not able to cover the cost of return postage of shoes for exchanges from outside the UK, we do cover the postage cost of sending the replacement pair to customers wishing to exchange the shoes.

How long does it take for my order to be refunded?

We are happy to refund unworn items within a 28-day period (from the day the goods were delivered to you).

You'll receive an email to confirm when we have received the item at the warehouse, after which your refund will appear in your account within 5 days. This shouldn't take longer than 14 days from the day that you returned the item back to us.

Shoes

Is there any way I can break in my new shoes?

If your shoes are rubbing at the heel we suggest using vaseline rubbed on your foot and on the shoe to reduce the friction between your foot and the shoe which causes rubbing.  Of course you may not want to use vaseline on your new shoes so we would also advise buying a 'moleskin' felt pad for the back of the shoe and rubbing vaseline on that instead.

Here is a link to one we’ve found on Amazon but all larger chemists should sell a similar product.

What are the soles/insoles on your shoes like?

The soles are flexible on most of the shoes. The only non-flexible sole within our range at the moment is the AMELIA flat sandal, which features an authentic Portuguese cork sole.

The insoles on all of our shoes are non-removable and cushioned.

What arch support do your shoes offer?

All of our shoes feature a cushioned and mild arch support insole, except for the Laura and Amelia flat sandals. We are looking to incorporate these features in the future versions of the sandals.

Which shoes are wide fit?

Our wide fit shoe is the Esme. It currently comes in red leather and black suede.

The Ava also has generous width, too. The Ava currently comes in a lot of colours, including silver and pink nude

The other shoes can accommodate up to an EE-EEE but only across the widest part of the foot - the rest of the shoe, e.g. the heel, is a standard fit.

Are your shoes suitable for post op feet?

Many customers find our ballet flats suitable for post-operative footwear as they don't have any seams and come up higher on the foot and so cover scarring.
